Business communications provider 8×8 Inc. is slashing 7% of its staff.
The Campbell-based company announced the layoffs Wednesday. It’s making the cuts to realign its business to take advantage of “emerging marketplace opportunities,” Interim CEO Sam Wilson said in a letter to employees.
“I believe this reduction is essential to improve our efficiency and align our resources to the critical areas of focus,” Wilson said.
8×8 didn’t say how many employees it is letting go as part of the cuts, which will affect its worldwide workforce. At the end of March, it employed 2,216 people globally, with 1,245 of those outside of the U.S., according to its annual report.
