US audiovisual company Dolby has registered an Irish entity with the Companies Registration Office, according to the Irish Independent.
It has since been confirmed that Dolby Laboratories (valued at €7.7 billion) is hiring staff in Ireland for a brand new office in Dublin.
The US-headquartered outlet specialises in audio noise reduction, audio encoding/compression, spatial audio, and HDR imaging for music, cinema, movies, TV and gaming. Dolby Labs was founded by Ray Dolby in London in 1965.
The founder (who died in 2013) invented the Dolby Noise Reduction system that year; a form of audio signal processing for reducing the background hissing sound on audio tape recordings.
