The Power of Hardware as a Service (HWaaS)

Founded in 2011, Zoom Video Communications (Zoom) is a leading unified communications provider that offers a portfolio of cloud-based services including Zoom Meetings for video conferencing and real-time collaboration, Zoom Rooms meeting room software, Zoom Webinars for large-scale events, and Zoom Phone for telephony.

Founded in 2019, Poly is a global communications company headquartered in Santa Cruz, California that offers a portfolio of audio and video communication products and associated services for small, medium, and large organizations. Poly is the result of a rebranding of Plantronics (founded in 1961) following its acquisition of Polycom (founded in 1991) in 2018.

In June 2020, Zoom and Poly engaged Recon Research (RR) to dig into the Zoom’s hardware as a service (HWaaS) offering including the Zoom service (Meetings or Phone) and Poly video conferencing and telephony devices.
