Cisco Takes a Walk on the Teams Side

The collaboration world took a big step forward today when Cisco announced that certain Cisco video conferencing systems will offer native Microsoft Teams support in Q1 2023.

OK – before we move on, let’s stop, take a breath, and re-read that first sentence (at least once).  Seriously?  Cisco and Microsoft working together?  A non-Cisco experience on Cisco devices?  What’s next?  Cats and dogs living together?  People living on the moon?  Peace on Earth?

[ Author’s Note – for the record, we’re not entirely surprised by this announcement.  As our subscribers know, we’ve been pushing Cisco in this direction for quite a while.  For example, in our August 5, 2022, write-up on Cisco, we said that “Cisco could soften the blow by supporting other calling platform apps (e.g., Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, etc.) directly on its video devices.” ]
