HP to Acquire Poly – Commentary, Insight, and Analysis from Recon Research

On March 28th, 2022, HP Inc. announced its intention to acquire Poly, a leading global provider of workplace collaboration solutions, for a total enterprise value of $3.3 billion.  This deal is expected to close by the end of CY2022.

The analysts at Recon Research have covered Poly (previously Plantronics / Polycom) for almost 20 years and HP (as a video conferencing solution provider) for almost 17 years.  In that time, we’ve participated in scores of briefings and meetings with each of these companies, used and analyzed their various products and services, and published many different articles and reports including these players.

Via this transaction, HP acquires Poly’s personal communication products (headsets, webcams, USB speakerphones, displays, etc.) and meeting room video conferencing solutions.  But will bringing Poly’s staff and solutions under the HP banner give Poly (and HP) a leg-up on its competitors?
