Crestron to Acquire 1 Beyond – Commentary, Insight, and Analysis from Recon Research

On March 23rd, 2022, Crestron announced its intention to acquire 1 Beyond, a small, Boston-based intelligent video technology company focused on speaker tracking and room framing solutions.  This deal is expected to close during Q2 of CY 2022.

The analysts at Recon Research have three decades of experience working at (yes – as an employee), working with (as AV consultants, resellers, and end-users), and covering Crestron (as analysts).  In that time, we’ve installed, programmed, and tested Crestron’s hardware and cloud solutions.  Suffice it to say, Crestron is near and dear to our hearts.

This is Crestron’s first acquisition since its inception 50 years ago.  Imagine that.  But more importantly, this transaction solves a longstanding challenge for Crestron, and allows it to offer a differentiated, multi-camera meeting room video conferencing experience.
